This is a fast way to format numbers as text in microsoft Excel.

Instructions:

1. Select a cell
2. Type '
3. Type the number
4. Press Enter

Why format numbers as text?

• If you don't want numbers to be calculated.
• A number that is formatted as text will be left-aligned instead of right-aligned.

Are there any other ways to format numbers as text? Yes.

1. Select the cells containing the numbers
2. Right click with mouse and select "Format cells.."
3. Go to the tab "Numbers"
4. Select the category "Text"
5. Press ok!
