A wireless router expands your home network to practically every room. No more cables!
Let say that you already have an existing home network connected to a modem and a router. (See picture below)
So how do you connect a new wireless router to an existing router?
- Log in to wireless router. (Read wireless router manual)
- Turn off dhcp (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).
- Connect a network cable between existing router (lan port) and wireless router. (lan port) See picture.
- Configure your wireless computer the same way as the other (not wireless) computers. Same default gateway, subnet mask and prefered/alternative DNS, only different is the ipaddress.
