Windows Media Center 2005: Fix Low Volume output through spdif

In an earlier article i wrote about how to fix low volume while playing divx/xvid, this article will solve the problem with low volume spdif.

Install AC3 filter.

Go to tab “Main”
Enable spdif
Change preset to loud
Close ac3 filter
Press “Start” button
Click “Run…”
Type “regedit” + press enterBackup Regedit
Find “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Media [...]

Windows media player: Remove update notification

Instructions:

Click “Start” button
Click “Run…”
Type “regedit” and then press enter
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ MediaPlayer \ PlayerUpgrade
Create or modify “AskMeAgain” (stringvalue)
Change value to “No”
No = Disabled
Yes = Enabled
Exit registry

Restart computer to apply settings

WMC 2005: Slow down DVD-ROM to quiet mode

Some DVD-ROM:s make a terrible sound while playing, due to the dvd disc speed. To solve this problem, try downloading this CD Throttle to manually change the speed of the dvd-rom.

Customize album cover

Sometimes windows media player can not find the cover art. To fix this problem manually:

Download the correct album cover.
Try searching http://www.amazon.com
Rename the jpg file to folder.jpg
Cut and paste folder.jpg to the album folder

How to capture screenshots from windows media player

Have you tried taking a screenshot from windows media player and ended up like the picture below.

This is how you fix this problem.
Instructions:

Start windows media player
Go to Tools in the menu
Click “Options..”
Select the performance tab
Drag the Wideo acceleration slider to none.

Click the “advanced..” button
Uncheck “Use overlays”

Press ok!

How to burn wma or mp3 to a cd in windows media player

Start windows media player
Click library

Select “burn list”

Drag the wma files to the “burn list” pane.
Press “Burn cd”
Now the converting starts and wave files are being created and burned on the cd.
