What is an add-in?
An excel add-in is a *.xlam or *.xla file and loads when excel starts. The *.xlam file contains vba code that adds new functionality to excel. You can use this new functionality in all your workbboks. Excel already have a lot of add-ins that you can load, for example Solver.
