In windows xp the current users username is shown at top in the start-menu. To remove this, a small change in the registry is necessary.

 

 

Start the registry editor. (Start \ Run \ "Regedit"). Press Enter. Find this registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer

Right click witch mouse in the right window. Select New and create a DWORD-value. Name that value "NoUserNameInStartMenu". Double click this new value and set it to 1.

Log out or restart to enable the registry changes.

All Users
To implement this to all users om your computer use this registry key instead.
