This website had 1 817 077 visitors last year 2015, an incredible number. 43 % more than previous year. 2014 was the first year I saw less visitors than the year before and I could not figure out why.

There is a lesson to be learned here, keep an eye on your site's crawl statistics in Google webmaster tools. Mine was well above 1000 ms and has probably been throughout 2014 and 2013, seems to have been a problem with my old web server. Site Speed in Google Analytics didn't show this so I missed this important metric.

website statistics yearly

After I moved to a new web server in January 2015 google immediately started to send more and more visitors again. "Time spent downloading a page" means the time for just downloading the HTML of your page by Googlebot. My crawl statistics are now around 250 ms. Pic below doesn't show my statistics, it was found on the internet.

December is always a month with less visitors, at least it was ~30% higher than 2014.

website statistics monthly

2016 has started great, some days had between 9 000 and 10 000 visitors last week, see pic below. If this continues monthly visits could be above 200 000 for coming months.

More than 11 000 subscribers have signed up for my email newsletter, not bad for a list created less than 18 months ago.
